2025 Student Projects

The research conducted by Summer 2025’s enthusiastic, hard-working Indigenous undergraduates from communities across western Canada, included Improving the health of farmed fish by supporting mechanisms of natural immune protection; Assessing wildfire hazard, exposure, and vulnerability in four First Nations communities in Northern Ontario; Using nanotechnology to enhance understanding of the environmental threats facing polar bears; Investigating the unique traits of lodgepole pines that have survived mountain pine beetle infestations; and 15 additional other projects.

They paddled down the North Saskatchewan River, engaged in personal development workshops, and shared their experiences in regular get-togethers. Our Celebration of Research event in December 2025 showcased their achievements. Watch the video for snippets of their work. As always we are so proud of them!
